Let’s Talk is based on an essay written by British social scientist Erid Mumford called, “The story of socio-technical design: reflections on its successes, failures and potential.” It is a unique tool used to spark conversation around these principles. Whether your team is undergoing change or simply needs a new way of approaching things, Let’s Talk will help engage your team in an inspiring and effective conversation.
This service design tool was created during a project working alongside a private bank based out of Brazil. Originally our goal was to create a digitized platform of their service offerings, but after doing research and coming to the realization that they were trying to solve a problem of organizational efficiency, we decided to create a tool to help any organization facing these challenges. Our idea was that many companies face these challenges, and based on socio-technical and service design logic we wish to bring clarity for companies by teaching the ideal way to approach these organizational challenges.
Tomo is a product service system that a group and I designed as a hypothetical prototyped experience. Based on the three words Ant, Tell and Agent, we created an artificially intelligent companionship that learns off cognitive, behavioral and voice recognition patterns, and provides assistance in areas of behavioral disabilities such as ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, depression, etc.
Originally the experience began in the realm of identifying sexual abuse in young children. The product was built to help empower young children to take control over their mental sovereignty in the matter of sexual abuse, while protecting their safety, privacy and anonymity. But after realizing the capabilities of this product service system, and the evolving capabilities of AI, we realized there was potential for exponential growth.
The Dezeen app was created based on an existing website for a design magazine. In the practice of information architecture, the new app takes dezeen.com and streamlines its content and information in a new easy-to-use application. All of the same up to date articles are offered through the app, as well as all the other dezeen features. Keep up to date with what’s new in the design world anytime, anywhere – zeen.
The technological disruption project was a challenge in which we were to take an existing service or business, and add technologies to enhance the service offering. Our team focused on a project that was partnered with Google+ called Color+City which was a platform that connected artists and wall owners. We transformed both the service and business end of the experience to better suit our technological disruption, and in the end we finished with a new app infrastructure, website platform and a management dashboard to prove the success of our business offering.
UrbanSTEM Academy is a nonprofit based out of Savannah that focuses on providing a platform for STEM education. Due to the fact that the company had only been running for a year, and started with little to no infrastructure, our design team saw many areas for improvement and joined together to co-create and build them a greater, functioning system.
As we went through the various co-creation sessions, and after doing observation and research on their processes, we found that not only did the company itself need a better working infrastructure, but the platform they were trying to provide STEM education on also needed some solid groundwork. In the end, we innovated solutions regarding the website, volunteer and educators platform, and their overall social networking processes in hopes of generating more recognition and traction in their providing STEM education.
Home Mental was an imaginative project where our design team was to create a newer, more innovative generalized home goods purchasing experience. The aim was to solve certain design opportunities that we saw could use improvement. Focusing on only a few sections, we addressed certain pain points in the various areas, then through a decision matrix narrowed down our top ideas and prototyped the best ones.
Our design team focused on the lighting section and what improvements we could make which would enhance, simplify and incentivize customers in their lighting purchasing experience. In the end, we prototyped the idea of having augmented reality experience that would guide their purchase, providing them a seamless and intuitive process from beginning to end.
